Hardy hails best moment at Whitby

Whitby Town manager Chris Hardy hailed their FA Cup progress against Gloucester City as his best moment in charge of the club.

The Seasiders travelled south for Monday night’s third qualifying round replay with just 14 fit players, including three goalkeepers.

A brace from makeshift striker Kieran Weledji helped them win 3-1 and set up a tie at home to former NPL club Stourbridge for a place in the FA Cup first round proper.

Hardy told the club’s official website: “That’s the FA Cup for you.

“We had limited numbers and were relying on late fitness tests but you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth.

“What the lads did was unbelievable and the work ethic was flat out. That’s my best moment as the Whitby manager.”

Whitby are one of four NPL teams in the fourth qualifying round, alongside Belper Town, Colne and Nantwich Town.
