N/West Preview: chance for Marske to chase table toppers

In the N/West division, chance for Marske United to chase table toppers Workington, who are in FA Trophy third qualifying round action, as they host fourth-placed Clitheroe.

Marske, who have the best goal difference in the competition, have won three of their last five league fixtures, including an impressive 6-1 victory over Runcorn Linnets and a 2-0 triumph over Tadcaster Albion. The club also recently announced the re-signing of striker Louis Johnson until the end of next season.

A victory for Carl Jarrett’s side could see them close the points deficit on Workington to just one in the league table.

Their opponents in Clitheroe have won their last five league fixtures, including an impressive 2-0 victory over Workington, as well as wins over Pickering Town, Kendal Town, Ramsbottom United and Droylsden.

Fifth-placed Pontefract Collieries travel to ST&B Accountants Stadium to face Kendal Town, who sit 15th in the league table.

The Colls sit just four points behind next best Clitheroe, and have two wins and a draw in their last three league fixtures, whilst their opponents have three wins so far in the 2019/20 season.

At the bottom of the table, Pickering Town travel to Trafford, who sit seventh.

Pickering have the worst goals difference in the league with -23, and just one win coming against Mossley. Trafford recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to Brighouse Town, with Chris Palmer scoring his 7th goal of the season.

Wayne Benn will take charge of his first game as manager at Ossett United, taking charge on Thursday following their midweek fixture against City of Liverpool.

They host Prescott Cables, who announced the loan signing of striker Louis Myers from FC United of Manchester.

Tadcaster Albion host Droylsden, whilst Mossley travel to Brighouse.

Widnes, who recently announced the departure of striker Adam Morgan to join Romford, travel to City of Liverpool on a four-game winning streak.

Finally, ninth-placed Ramsbottom United travel to Dunston, who have played just eight games in the league so far this season.
